Youth Development Association Conducts Awareness Workshop on Chickenpox and Infection Prevention Among School Students
The Youth Development Association conducted an awareness workshop on chickenpox and ways to prevent infection among school students at Sonaa Al-Amal School in Ard Al-Tal Camp – Tahliya, Khan Younis. The activity was implemented as part of the Association’s efforts to strengthen health and preventive awareness among children and adolescents and to reduce the risks associated with the spread of infectious diseases.
The workshop was facilitated by Youth Development Association volunteers with relevant knowledge, experience, and expertise in the health field. They provided students with simple, age-appropriate information and guidance on chickenpox, its main symptoms, how the infection spreads, and ways to manage and reduce transmission.
The workshop also addressed a range of preventive practices and healthy behaviors, with a focus on the importance of personal hygiene, regular handwashing, avoiding the sharing of personal items, limiting contact when symptoms appear, and informing family members and relevant health professionals when medical advice is needed.
The workshop used an interactive approach that gave students the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and participate in discussions. This helped simplify health information and strengthen their understanding of preventive measures and how to apply them in their daily lives.
The Youth Development Association emphasized the importance of strengthening health awareness among children and students as an essential part of disease prevention and community protection, particularly in light of the difficult humanitarian and living conditions in the Gaza Strip.
This workshop is part of a series of awareness activities and sessions implemented by the Youth Development Association across the Gaza Strip, aimed at promoting health knowledge, encouraging preventive practices, and supporting children, young people, and families with the information and guidance needed to protect their health and reduce the spread of disease in schools, shelters, and displacement camps.
