Youth Development Association Conducts Awareness Workshop on Positive Approaches to Adolescents in Southern Al-Tahliya Camp, Khan Younis
The Youth Development Association conducted an awareness workshop entitled “How to Deal with Adolescents During the Teenage Years” at Southern Al-Tahliya Camp in Khan Younis, as part of the Association’s efforts to strengthen family and community awareness and support families in responding to the needs of their children during this important stage of life.
The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of positive approaches to dealing with adolescents, their psychological, social, and educational needs, and the main changes associated with adolescence, as well as how to respond to these changes in ways that respect the particular characteristics of this stage.
The workshop highlighted the importance of providing a safe and supportive family environment based on dialogue, active listening, and mutual respect. It also emphasized the importance of building adolescents’ self-confidence and giving them space to express their feelings and ideas, contributing to stronger family relationships based on understanding, trust, and emotional support.
The workshop also focused on the importance of avoiding violence, harsh criticism, and severe punishment, and instead adopting positive parenting approaches that help adolescents develop their personalities, strengthen their decision-making skills, and improve their ability to cope with pressures and challenges during adolescence.
The workshop provided a space for discussion and the exchange of experiences regarding the challenges families face in dealing with adolescents. Practical guidance was also shared to help improve positive communication within the family and support healthier relationships with young people.
This activity is part of a series of awareness programs and sessions implemented by the Youth Development Association across the Gaza Strip, aimed at promoting positive parenting, supporting families in their role in protecting adolescents and developing their capacities, and contributing to building a more aware, confident, and socially engaged generation.
