The Youth Development Association conducted an awareness session on environmental risks and their impact on public health at East Al-Mahatta Camp – Ard Al-Shawa in Deir Al-Balah, as part of the Association’s efforts to strengthen health and preventive awareness within displacement camps.

The session addressed the main environmental risks that may affect the health of individuals and families, including waste accumulation, water contamination, the spread of insects, and poor sanitation, as well as the diseases and health problems that may result from these conditions, particularly in light of the difficult living environment within displacement settings.

The session also focused on a number of preventive practices that families can follow to reduce these risks, including maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings, ensuring the safe disposal of waste, protecting the cleanliness of water and water storage areas, and promoting personal and public hygiene practices.

Participants actively engaged in the session and discussed a number of environmental and health challenges they face within the camp. They also raised questions about ways to reduce these risks and protect the health of families, particularly children, older people, and other groups that may be more vulnerable to health hazards.

This activity is part of a series of awareness sessions implemented by the Youth Development Association across the Gaza Strip, aimed at strengthening awareness of environmental and health risks and promoting preventive practices that contribute to creating a safer and healthier environment within displacement camps and shelter centers.
