Youth Development Association Conducts Specialized Awareness Sessions for Women at Al-Azhar University Shelter Center in Gaza City
The Youth Development Association conducted a series of awareness sessions for women at the Al-Azhar University Shelter Center in Gaza City. The sessions addressed a range of important health and protection topics and were facilitated and supervised by specialists, each within their respective area of expertise, as part of the Association’s efforts to strengthen awareness and respond to growing needs within displacement centers.
The sessions included awareness on the risks associated with explosive remnants of war and suspicious objects. Specialists provided guidance on how to reduce risks, emphasizing the importance of avoiding unknown objects, not touching or approaching them, following safety procedures, and reporting them to the relevant authorities in order to help protect women and their families.
Health specialists also addressed reproductive health, providing information and guidance on healthy practices, the prevention of diseases and infections, and the importance of obtaining health information from reliable sources and consulting qualified professionals when needed.
The sessions also included awareness on breast cancer, with specialists providing information on the importance of recognizing signs and symptoms that require medical follow-up, as well as emphasizing the value of early detection and regular health monitoring in improving the chances of timely diagnosis and treatment.
The sessions witnessed active participation from the women, who were given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their concerns directly with the specialists. This contributed to correcting some misconceptions and strengthening their knowledge of health and protection issues that are particularly relevant in the context of displacement.
These sessions are part of a series of awareness activities implemented by the Youth Development Association across the Gaza Strip, aimed at strengthening health and protection awareness among women and families and enabling them to access reliable information that can help them respond more safely to the risks and challenges they face in displacement camps and shelter centers.
