Gaza – Yesterday, the Youth Development Association (YDA) conducted an awareness session on the risks of suspicious objects and explosive remnants of war (ERW) at Al-Mahatta Park Camp, east of Deir Al-Balah in the Gaza Strip. The session was held as part of the Association’s ongoing efforts to promote safety awareness and reduce the risks faced by residents and displaced families.

The session highlighted the main dangers associated with explosive remnants of war, unexploded ordnance, and suspicious objects. Participants were advised to follow essential safety procedures when encountering any unknown object, including not approaching, touching, or attempting to move it, keeping a safe distance from the area, and reporting it to the relevant authorities.

The session also emphasized the importance of raising awareness among children and families about the potential hazards in their surroundings, particularly in areas that have been subjected to bombardment or where explosive remnants of war may be present. Such awareness contributes to promoting safer behavior and reducing the risk of injuries and accidents.

Participants actively engaged in the session and discussed a number of risks they face around displacement sites. They stressed the importance of continuing such awareness activities, which contribute to protecting families and strengthening community awareness.

The Youth Development Association continues to implement awareness-raising and community-based activities across the Gaza Strip in response to growing needs, with the aim of enhancing safety and protection in displacement camps and shelters.
