Youth Development Association Conducts Awareness Session on Personal Hygiene, Public Health, and Explosive Remnants of War in Deir Al-Balah
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote health and safety awareness among vulnerable groups, the Youth Development Association conducted awareness session at Basma Amal Shelter for Persons with Disabilities in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza Strip
The session addressed key topics related to personal hygiene, public hygiene, public health, and awareness of the risks associated with explosive remnants of war (ERW)
The activity aimed to promote healthy practices, raise awareness of the importance of personal hygiene, handwashing, and maintaining clean living spaces and shared facilities, thereby helping to prevent illness and reduce the spread of infections within shelters
The session also highlighted the dangers posed by explosive remnants of war, suspicious objects, and unexploded ordnance, emphasizing the importance of not approaching or touching any unfamiliar objects, avoiding potentially hazardous areas, and immediately reporting suspicious items to the relevant authorities
Special consideration was given to the needs and circumstances of persons with disabilities, with clear and accessible awareness messages provided to support safer and healthier behaviors within the shelter environment
The Youth Development Association stresses the importance of continuing health and safety awareness activities in shelters, strengthening awareness of the risks posed by explosive remnants of war, and promoting preventive practices that contribute to creating a safer and healthier environment for affected individuals and families
