Youth Development Association and Deir Istiya Municipality Hold Volunteer Day to Plant Olive Saplings
Salfit – Yesterday:
The Youth Development Association, in partnership and cooperation with the Deir Istiya Municipality, held a volunteer day to plant olive saplings in the town. A number of association volunteers and municipal employees participated in the event, which is part of a series of activities and training programs the association is conducting in the northern and central governorates.
This activity is part of the association's efforts to raise awareness and build the capacities of farmers and those working in the agricultural sector, and to promote the importance of adopting sound agricultural practices and caring for trees, thereby contributing to improved agricultural production and the preservation of natural resources.
The volunteer day is being implemented within the framework of the “Planting, Caring for, and Planning Trees” project, which is being carried out by the Youth Development Association with funding from the Jerusalem Fund for Culture and Social Development. The project targets a group of farmers and agricultural workers in the northern governorates.
The project aims to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in applying sound agricultural methods and practices for tree cultivation and care, including modern irrigation techniques, disease prevention and treatment, and best practices in harvesting and storage. It also focuses on the use of modern agricultural technologies and applications, contributing to maintaining the quality and market value of agricultural products and increasing production and income for farmers and those working in the agricultural sector.
Furthermore, the project emphasizes raising awareness about the importance of using organic fertilizers and implementing regulations and standards that ensure public hygiene and preserve biodiversity, in line with the principles of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
